Our Story

In 2007 bankers Tom Spitz and David Fink became friends.

Both Tom and Dave had successful and well-established banking careers, yet both believed that banking could be better. That it should be easier. Entrepreneurs at heart, Tom and Dave had a shared vision: to build a bank that could meet the needs of clients who’d outgrown the capabilities of community banks; a bank that could relieve the frustration experienced by clients underserved by large regional banks and their one-size-fits-all approach; a bank that could provide the timely responses needed to get business done.

They are disrupting the banking industry.

Tom and Dave knew that their ability to simplify the complexities of business banking hinged on providing customers with current technology and experienced bankers: professionals who shared their passion for making it easy to bank with Settlers. They gave these expert bankers the decision-making authority to provide each client with the customized solutions to suit his unique banking needs.

They manage risk through turbulent times.

The onset of the Great Recession cut short the excitement surrounding Settlers bank whirlwind journey from business plan to grand opening. Long-established banks were struggling, many were unwilling or unable to lend. Tom and Dave stayed the course and, with their clean balance sheet, helped businesses and families when few others could.

They’re ready for whatever’s next.

Over time Tom and Dave realized that the same creativity and customization that simplified banking for business could take the pain out of applying for a mortgage, and relieve the stress of managing personal wealth, for clients throughout Wisconsin.

Since 2007 much has changed, but one thing never will. Tom and Dave – and all the highly experienced professionals at Settlers bank – still work hard every day to make banking better, and easier, for you.
