Both Tom and Dave had successful and well-established banking careers, yet both believed that banking could be better. That it should be easier. The onset of the Great Recession cut short the excitement surrounding Settlers bank whirlwind journey from business plan to grand opening. Long-established banks were struggling, many were unwilling or unable to lend. Tom and Dave stayed the course and, with their clean balance sheet, helped businesses and families when few others could.
